Yamato Elementary School Students Dig Deep for Water!

Saturday, July 19, 2008 found elementary school students hard at work and digging deeply .... in their pockets for spare change to raise money to sponsor a water well in Cambodia. Special thanks to the Yamato Elementary School Parents Association for sponsoring a classroom booth for Kasmisou Foundation during their July 19 Summer Festival. A group of students, coordinated by Ms. Ikuko Kato and Mrs. Maskao Inoue held a White Elephant Sale raising 14,100 in yen (about $133) through the sale of small items like friendship bracelets, hair ribbons and small fashion jewelry. These funds will go towards sponsoring a well in our Prey Veng Rural Assistance program. This well will provide a clean and reliable source of drinking water as well as allowing poor subsistence farmers to start producing much needed income from vegetable gardens. Congratulations to the Yamato Elementary School Students and their volunteer coordinators for their hard work to improve the lives of other people.
